Lorain County Health Rankings Released
The State of Ohio released today the first-of-its-kind collection of 50 reports -one per state- called "County Health Rankings". The rankings provide a general overview of community health issues. They demonstrate that health happens where we live, learn, work, and play, and much of what influences how healthy we are and how long we live happens outside of the doctor's office.
The rankings should be used to stimulate communities to work together to improve health countywide as it relates to behavioral, socioeconomic, educational and environmental factors, because people, no matter where they live should have the best possible opportunity to be healthy.
Overall, Lorain County ranked 36th out of 88 total Ohio counties in health outcomes which represent the overall morbidity and mortality rates of the county and 40th in health factors: health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors and the physical environment.
