Health Services
Bureau for Children with
Medical Handicaps (BCMH) is a home-visitation program designed to connect
public health nursing services with families whose child has developmental
delays. BCMH is a program sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health.
HELP ME GROW INITIATIVE
-
Welcome Home provides
a one-time nurse home visit to first time parents or teen parents during
the first six weeks after birth or discharge from the hospital. Services
include physical assessment, health education, counseling and referral.

Early Start provides
nurse home visits to parents of children from 0 - 3 years of age. Services
include physical assessment, health education emotional support, parenting
and referral for additional services.

Early Intervention (EI) -
provides nurse home visits to parents of children 0-3 of age with developmental
delays. Services include physical assessment, health education, counseling
and referral, and case coordination.
HIV Testing
and Counseling Clinic provides anonymous and confidential HIV testing and
counseling. Educational programs are available upon request.
Communicable Disease
Control provides immunization services for children and epidemiological
surveillance in an effort to identify prevent and control the spread of
infectious diseases.
Lead Program
The goals of the lead program are to:
- Ensure universal screening of all children as required by Ohio law
- Ensure children with elevated blood lead levels receive appropriate care as well as to conduct quality assurance measures to help reach the goal of universal screening
Case Management
- Case management services include educating parents about lead poisoning prevention as well as assessing a family’s special needs and making appropriate referrals
