National and Local Statistics

• Nationally 430,000 people every year die from tobacco related illnesses.
• Statewide Ohio ranks among the states with the highest adult prevalence of tobacco use. Each day across Ohio; an estimated 6,000 kids pick up a cigarette for the first time and 3,000 kids become habitual smokers.
• In Lorain County approximately 20.5% of our young people under 18 smoke regularly. Nearly 29.8% of youth have tried cigarettes and 10.1% of youth have tried other tobacco products
