The Lorain City Health Department continues to strengthen its efforts in improving public health preparedness for bio-terrorism, infectious disease outbreaks, and other threats to our community.
The staff regularly participates in a variety of continuing education courses related to these disasters, including specialized trainings, conferences, and satellite broadcasts.
The Lorain City Health Department's Disaster Team has been meeting with other local and regional jurisdictions regularly to collaborate, develop ideas for improvement, and form other initiatives.
One of these initiatives, spearheaded by the Cleveland Department of Public Health, is entitled, "Learn. Prepare. Act. - Helping Cleveland Through Disaster Preparedness."
This guide provides the citizens of our region useful information on how to prepare for any type of disaster.
It includes up-to-date, hazard specific safety tips and information about protection and preparedness.
All health jurisdictions in the Northeast Ohio region have taken the responsibility of promoting this initiative.
